SFH and politics
Stories For Hope is not a political publication, nor are we (as a publication) politically affiliated with anyone.
We will nevertheless report, and (at times) draw attention to things which happen in our world, which we believe need people's attention from a human standpoint.
We believe that all such situations deserve the attention, compassion and empathy of human beings. We reject the idea that any individual is completely self-sufficient, without the need for compassion and empathy for others.
We therefore draw your attention to such situations, not from a political standpoint, but purely from a human and humanitarian standpoint.
It is our belief that it is not in human nature to witness catastrophe happening and shrugging one's shoulders. We believe that human beings have the aforementioned capacity and inclination for compassion and empathy, and that we (in the face of disaster which happens to others), as human beings, are only too happy to help one another.
This is what civilisation is all about. I will go one step further: I believe that the right to compassion and empathy, especially in such situations (i.e. disastrous from a human standpoint) is a human right.
Hope does not mean burying one's head in the sand; hope means seeing reality for what it is, and doing something to help ... without any ulterior motive.
We all hope that we, as human beings, find (whether individually or collectively) a way to genuinely help others, and not turn away from those who need us the most.
